The most prominent multimedia technological development in the last half a year should be emergence of the I-phone produced by Apple Company. Since its first day launched in the market, I-phone has attracted much attention from both customers and I-phone’s competitors.
I think this product has brought about a new trend for people to choose their mobile phone. It should not only have the basic function of calling, but can watch movie, listen to music, check the email, or even use the google map to find your destination. In a word, multimedia has become an indispensable demand for everyone who wants to keep up with the pace of the society. When the multimedia technology is combined with cell phone, a series of changes have taken place among people.
Firstly, multimedia becomes a label of fashion and convenience, which means it does not restrict to be an entertainment tool any more. Secondly, this combination has broadened the potential market. Take the internet as an example, we can find that more internet companies like Yahoo, Google and Facebook have increased their input on the development of the new multimedia products, and this in the long run will stimulate the innovation of multimedia technology. Thirdly, this means the new information can be transmitted more quickly and efficiently.
Of course, when multimedia has walked so close to people, it can also cause some negative effect. Students may be obsessed in their multifunctional mobiles and forget to do the homework. The number of the people going to cinema is likely to decline. It might even be a new way to accelerate the spreading of porn, and other unhealthy information.
All in all, the invention of I-Phone can be considered as a revolution of the multimedia technology. The impact it brings out will be rather far-reaching and more time will need to give an objective evaluation about it.
